A month ago, WVN Home Textiles had the chance to do something special and also address a problem that the social enterprise had encountered when they last visited their partner weaving community in La Union.
After almost a year of not being able to see their community partners because of the pandemic, they discovered that some in their partner community had voluminous amounts of unsold inventory. This was largely due to the lack of tourism, which the artisans used to rely on heavily and still continuously weave for.

Through an arrangement with the Ateneo King of the Blues Batch HS ‘71 and College ’75, and the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service (PJPS), whose mission is the holistic rehabilitation of incarcerated persons at the New Bilibid Prison, WVN Home was able to funnel a sizeable portion of oversupply of blankets to those who need them the most: the prisoner patients at Bilibid. This would not only benefit the patients and elderly of Maximum and Medium hospitals but also the artisans who continue to weave during the pandemic.
Similar to the PJPS and the Ateneo alumni group, WVN Home is continuously looking for collaborations to help give a home to the blankets made by their partner weaving community, so that they can fulfil their meaningful purpose.
